Defamation Of Character

If your reputation has been damaged due to defamation of character, there are things you can do to fight back. Instead of getting angry and lashing back with insults or complaints consider if you have a defamation of character case.

First identify if all of the four components of a defamation of character assassination have occurred.

Those four qualifications are:
The statement must be a false statement
The statement must be made publicly
The statements must show negligence
The accuser must be able to show damages

Libel occurs if the false communication occurs in written form. Negative spoken statements or accusations that have occurred publicly and not privately are considered slander, and both libel and slander must have occurred.

Cases can either be civil or criminal and depending on the work environment and it may take a while to repair the damage.
It’s never okay to live with harassment and more often than not employees endure humiliation in order to keep their jobs.

If defamation of character has occurred, don’t just accept it, and sweep it under the rug. Do something, pick up the phone, call one of our team members, and fight back legally.
